Uranium in Saskatchewan

Millennium Project 2007

OWNERSHIP:   Cameco (42%)
JCU (30%)
AREVA Resources (28%)
OPERATOR:   Cameco
OPERATION:

The Millennium project is a potential underground uranium mine development located 35 kilometres north of the Key Lake mill. The deposit contains 38 million pounds of indicated uranium resources and 10 million pounds of inferred resources. This is expected to support mining operations at six to seven million pounds per year for about seven years. It is envisioned that this ore will be processed at the Key Lake mill, supplementing the feed from the McArthur River mine.

PLANS FOR 2008:
  • Environmental baseline and technical studies to support the required environmental assessment
  • Submitting a project proposal to initiate the federal and provincial environmental assessment process
  • Advancing the Millennium project feasibility study to the next phase
  • Surface geotechnical program to support future construction design
