The Inside Story
 |
| For Vincent Martin, President & CEO, AREVA Resources’ Future is “Pure Energy”. |
While our primary job at AREVA Resources is the exploration, development and production of uranium, we are operating within a very large organization that is also experiencing exciting times. The AREVA group is the first company in the world to enjoy full vertical integration of its nuclear business, from producing to recycling fuel and from developing reactors to providing transmission systems for the electricity. We are the world leader in nuclear energy and we use our vertical integration to secure the fuel cycle for our current and future customers.
Right now, AREVA worldwide has a backlog in orders adding up to over $60 billion. In China, we have signed the biggest nuclear contract ever, worth $12 billion, combining two EPR reactors and nuclear fuel. In Canada, AREVA EPR reactors are being considered for construction in Ontario. Alberta and Saskatchewan are now becoming potential reactor locations.
What about renewable energy? This complements – not competes with – nuclear energy, and AREVA is now heavily involved. Technology improvements and growing regulatory requirements for balanced electricity generation are making renewables such as wind and biomass very attractive technologies. AREVA is developing a strong business position in these through its 51% ownership in Multibrid, which manufactures large offshore wind turbines, and through the purchase of the Brazilian biomass company, Koblitz. The growth potential of both of these companies and technologies is enormous, in Canada and around the world. AREVA is also exploring investments in hydrogen and will continue to develop renewables to become a major supplier worldwide.
Our new tag line – AREVA. Pure Energy. – refers to our energy business focus, CO2-free “pure” nuclear and renewable energy, as well as the pure energy of our people. There is no shortage of opportunities, but we need people. The most effective source of information about the company, jobs and career potential is you. Most of our new hires are finding jobs from information provided by our existing employees. Please keep this up and remember the potential you have to bring new pure energy into AREVA Resources.
