Community Updates
McClean Lake and Cluff Lake Projects
November 15, 2001
McCLEAN LAKE
COGEMA Resources will complete mining of the Sue C ore body by
the end of 2001 with follow-up activities such as ore haulage and
some reclamation continuing for a few months in early 2002. Mining
will be suspended for about two years while the uranium mill at
McClean Lake continues processing the more than three years supply
of ore already stockpiled. McClean's mining staff will be reduced
until mining resumes in two to three years.
There were no spills since the last Community Update in October.
The concentrations of elements contained in the water discharges
from the treatment plants during October were well below the limits
set by the regulatory agencies.
CLUFF LAKE
Subject to licensing, mining at Cluff Lake will continue until
approximately May 2002 at which time the ore body will be depleted.
Mining will then be complete at Cluff Lake. Milling will continue
to process the remaining ore stockpiles by December 2002. In the
meantime, clean-up work at the site continues. If all regulatory
approvals are granted, decommissioning activities would begin in
early 2003.
There were no spills since the last Community Update in October.
Concentrations of elements contained in the water discharges from
the treatment plant during October were well below the limits set
by the regulatory agencies.

COGEMA Resources Wins ABEX Award!
The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce has chosen COGEMA Resources
as the winner of the 2001 ABEX award (Award for Business Excellence)
in the Physical Environment category. The entry was based on McClean
Lake's certification to the international environmental management
system standard - ISO 14001. McClean is the first mine of any kind
in Saskatchewan to earn this certification. McClean's environmental
management system is part of an overall quality system for all of
the site's key activities.
