COGEMA CLUFF LAKE WORKFORCE
ACHIEVES
ONE YEAR LOST TIME ACCIDENT FREE
COGEMA Resources Inc., the operator and owner of the Cluff Lake
uranium mine and mill, today announced that its workforce at Cluff
Lake has achieved a full year of operation without a single lost
time accident. This amounts to more than 650,000 accident-free hours
of work.
"This was achieved only through the active involvement of
all our mine and mill staff, the Occupational, Health and Safety
committee and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union,
Local 48-S," said Fern Lambert, Cluff Lake General Manager.
"As well, we have received valuable input from our provincial
and federal regulators. We are looking for a million hours accident-free."
Lambert attributes the success to an experienced and well-trained
workforce as well as active Total Quality Management programs on
site.
"Accomplishing this feat does not happen by accident,"
said COGEMA President and CEO Arnaud de Bourayne. "All of our
Cluff Lake staff should be congratulated. To safely work in a mine
and mill environment requires constant personal awareness, risk
management and the cooperation of every employee."
COGEMA has been operating the Cluff Lake uranium mine in northwest
Saskatchewan since 1980.
