History

1960s Orebody discovered.
1980 – 83  Began mining D Pit.
1983 D Pit began decommissioning.
1983 – 99  Mining of the OP/DP underground mine.
1987 Gold extraction circuit is added to the mill to recover gold from the Phase 1 tailings.
1989 – 91  DJN Pit mined.
1994 – 97  DJX Pit mined.
1994 – 2002  Mining of the DJ underground mine.
1998 Cluff Lake operation is awarded the John T. Ryan safety award from the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum for the lowest lost time accident rate of any metal mine in Canada.
2002 After 22 successful years, Cluff mining operations cease with a total production of 62 million pounds of U3O8.
2003 For the second time, the Cluff Lake operation is awarded the John T. Ryan safety award from the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum for the lowest lost time accident rate of any metal mine in Canada.
2004 Decommissioning license granted and reclamation work begins. Cluff Lake earns ISO 14001 certification.
2006 Physical decommissioning complete.
2008 800,000 trees planted since 2004.
2009 Cluff Lake achieves nine years without a lost-time accident.
